Having the land size of France, but only fitting 38,000 people into that area means that living in Yukon Territory, it's hard to not be isolated. The winters can be very hard and grueling, but when you are watching a magnificent and surreal aurora dance outside your window, you really do forget about the difficult winters. We drove about 5 kilometres up into the Yukon wilderness, from the Alaska Highway, to a beaver dam area where the lake had freshly frozen. The scene was so beautiful with the frosty trees and frost flowers covering the lake surface. The aurora decided to put on quiet a show for us this night, snaking across the sky right in front and above us.
